It's too close to the Ocarina Festival. I won't have enough money to pay for another trip and I highly doubt I could get the vacation time approved this late. :(

It would have been nice to go and maybe meet Odoc. :)

Thank you Wollemi. :)
On a side note, I see that July 6th is a very special day.

Anyways, I am considering going to this festival. I need to work out how I'm going to manage it with the US Ocarina Festival being so close and all.

Congratulations Mark! You are going to be a featured performer along with Vera Milt, Osawa san, Emiliano, Fabio and Nanako? Wow! Such exalted heights you've reached in just a short time. Maybe I should get your autograph now before you get so famous you won't have time to sign one for me. :D

Thanks. I'll do my best not to embarrass the whole American continent. All I said was that I want to perform, and just like that I'm on the list, lol.

The Yodobashi Camera Store song? Or that really perky song you like to play by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu?

I'd rather not play pop music. Those are just songs I like to play for fun.
It's not something I'd want to represent myself with at an ocarina festival.

I see your point although I did enjoy the Kyari Pamyu Pamyu song. If it hadn't been for your video, I probably never would have heard of it. :)

Whatever you do, please don't play Hora Staccato. I'm honestly sick and tired of seeing Willy's video of it. It's bad enough there are tons of videos of extremely talented Asian kids who are barely 7 years old who seem to be able to play it with ease.

I like Henry's suggestion of Bizet's music from Carmen. Do you think you'll be able to get an accompanist to play the piano for you when you perform? What style of music are you looking to play? I'll keep an eye on my internet browsing and if I come across anything that might suit, I'll post it here.

Thanks TenTenGuy. That does sound like fun.

Pandorado100, the first thing that comes to mind when Willy is mentioned is Hungarian Dance No. 5. I don't think I've seen the Hora Staccato video. I don't know anybody well enough to get them to play piano for me. But since Milt will be there, maybe I can borrow his guitarist, lol.

I think you are right, it was Hungarian Dance no5. I love the song but not Willy's version. I can't explain but his playing annoys me. Maybe I'm being just like Pat with his aversion to bobbing and weaving during ocarina performances.

If you want to play some traditional Chinese music, I'll bet Casper could help you locate some backtracks and jianpu sheets. I love his version of Chinese Beauty but that is a very slow, stately song. He also plays a pretty good version of Telephone by Lady Gaga but you may not want to represent yourself at the festival with that.

Maybe Hans can thiink of some good tunes to play. Tom also posted that he might be able to make it to the festival. You two should buddy up and play a duet together.

The world needs a McChan Vanopphem duet! Maybe not this year's festival but someday in the future. :)

I'm counting on you to take lots of pictures so I can enjoy the festival remotely.

There's definitely a big misunderstanding in regards to me being a world famous musician, but whatever. I'll just roll with it. My name is misspelled too, but I don't really care.

Thanks for the encouragement, but I really feel out of place in that list, lol. I'm just an amateur. I want to be the opening act so people can forget about me afterwards.

Then there's the "BIG" concert at the end. I received no word about it from the festival staff, but Milt congratulated me on being in it. I was like: "Huh? Whaaat??" I don't know what's going on, but I'm just gonna go with the flow and wing it. I can play Amazing Grace if I have nothing prepared.

I haven't decided what I'm going to play yet, but I'll stick with traditional tunes in the public domain to play it safe. I have several accompaniment tracks with permission to use in live performance, so all I really have to do is practice and work on my showmanship. I don't want to be boring.

I know you are going to feel the pressure of taking the stage with such big names but just be yourself. We all enjoy your videos and I'm sure the Korean audience will too.

There's no point in trying to outdo Fabio and Vera. They're just too awesome but you can find a way to connect with the audience if you stick with what you know and feel comfortable with playing. C:

Tom Vanopphem was in a similar situation once. He started out as a amateur and look at him now, giving concerts in Japan.

What about that octopus-squid mask that Brock Fenton was wearing in one of the Oc Fest photos? That would fit in with Mark's Under the Sea routine.

Never mind the ocarinas, look at all that food.

Pictures of ocarina factories always make me feel hungry anyway because they look so much like bakeries. And then Mark has to compound it by eating an ocarina-shaped pastry an throwing a bunch of carrot ocarinas.
