Hello everybody,
i'm not part of this but as i was reading about it i thought i should share with you this:
(taken from The Magnificent Seven Ocarina Players' facebook page)

Budrio Calling! Help us to spread the news!

Today is the 2nd December and together we will be celebrating the anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Donati with the global contest #BudrioCalling that is open to all ocarina enthusiasts.

Choose one of the following three pieces:
▶ “IL VENTO” by Emiliano Bernagozzi from the original play by Giampiero Lucchini
▶ “STUDIO N°1” by Cesare Testi (piano accompaniment by Kresimir Cindric)
▶“GERUDO VALLEY” by Kōji Kondō (thanks to Hans Rotter for the music sheet)

Post a video of your performance on our Page
www.facebook.com/themagnificentsevenocarinaplayers!
And take part in the contest!

The best performer will have the opportunity to perform on the prestigious stage of Budrio’s Municipal Theatre during the next edition of the International Ocarina Festival!

You have until 2nd January 2015!
Download the contest kit (scores, mp3 music, rules and regulations) at www.themagnificentsevenocarinaplayers.com
(link: http://www.themagnificentsevenocarinaplayers.com/contest-kit/contest-kit.pdf)

Read the rules and don't forget to invite at least one friend to take part!
We want to reach the whole world!

Good luck!
Budrio calling to the faraway towns...
I just took a look at the songs..
Vento is SO HARD! :S

I couldn't see any mp3 file to use as a backtrack for Gerudo Valley.

I'm definitely entering! I've been practicing like crazy, and even bought a new ocarina specifically for this. Of course, if I end up using a different one because I can't get used to it in time, there's no harm done, as I was going to get this ocarina anyway. I've wanted to go to the Budrio Festival for YEARS and I finally might have a chance!

Wow! That is very impressive Emily. I can't believe you can make your fingers work that fast. Il Vento is way too hard for me to even consider playing. I'd have to cut the tempo down to 85 bpm which wouldn't exactly remind anybody of the wind blowing freely. :)

Good luck to everyone that enters. It would be nice to see a TONian get one of the prizes.

It doesn't matter, I'm pretty sure 2/02/2015 is February 2nd either way!

Ah, good catch.
But, wouldn't 01/02/2015 be different from 02/01/2015?

Hm. Might it be, that there is a discrepancy between the Facebook event and the Rules and Regulations in the kit?

The Facebook page says: "You have until 2nd January 2015!". The official rules and regulations say "The contest will run from 2/01/2015 until 2/02/2015 and the winner will be
announced by the end of March 2015".

Anyone else confused? I was following the fb event, which said something about Donati's birthday marking the beginning of the event.

I hate to disagree with you, but the sections with the sixteenth notes are marked presto (I apologize for the double post.)

Nice job Carmelita!

I wanted to play Il Vento, but I was so busy with all the collabs, concert, work, and the holidays, that I'm just now getting around to looking at the contest kit properly.

There's no way I can prepare for Il Vento in just a few days, so maybe I'll play Gerudo Valley.
I wonder if people would lose respect for me if I played Zelda music, lol.

I like that, Jack. I think I should look up music sheets for Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. That would be more to my playing style. :)

I doubt it, Mark. Look at all the top rated ocarinists who have done covers of Disney's "Let it Go" from Frozen. I think they are still esteemed.

Besides, as you know, David and Cris play Gerudo Valley. I still respect them and so do many others. C:

I submitted my entry! It hasn't been posted on the official page yet, but here it is!

I picked studio no. 1 because while I was practicing il vento, I got tired of it and decided it would be more fun to play something that was not just a bunch of fast notes. Il vento is more flashy, but I think studio no. 1 shows more different aspects of playing. Good luck to everyone else in the contest, and I'll see you in Italy!~

I spent some time today with Studi per ocarina; and I've played it so many times that I don't need the sheet music anymore. Now I just need to work on tonging those 16th notes smoothly.

I was planning on playing Studi, but I can't tongue the 16th notes properly at that speed. :sigh: If only I could double-tongue.

Huh. I liked the second one better - on the first one, it sounded like the piano wasn't matching up with him in the beginning. I guess they're from the Gruppo Ocarinistico Molinellese, it looks like. I've never heard of them, but they seem to be another Italian ocarina group. Maybe they're the GOB's arch-rivals, poised to steal the international festival from Budrio once and for all!

But in all seriousness, they're very talented. Though that doesn't mean anyone should stop trying or get discouraged because of it - there are still good ocarinists here in the states too! They can't ALL be in Asia and Europe, right?
