Are there plans for any more ocarinas in the "Galliani" line? A B-flat would be particularly nice, though maybe not in the usual Budrio scheme.

I bought CKeene's alto C - not here yet - after giving up on ordering one from either Rotter's or Thomann's websites, for different reasons. Looking forward to it.

My AF 12-Hole Ocarina F4 from the last ocarinas of the Hans Rotter Signature set arrived today.
What a beautiful sound! very gentle but full resonance, and I have fallen in love with it. Thank you, Hans, for such a wonderful work!
And thank you so very much also for the "little gift" and extra song books which came along so unexpectedly.
Is there anybody in the northern part of Germany between Hamburg and Bremen out there who would like to meet up once in a while to play together?

I have been playing my Galliani C3 ocarina a lot lately. It is the best C3 ocarina that I have ever played! I speaks so clearly and with full round tone. I am also playing my new G2 long, which is just wonderful too!

Yep - I find I'm using mine more and more too.

A few more pitches would be handy.

To Jack / That terracotta finish doesn't just look nice, it feels better under the fingers than any other ocarina I've tried.

Hans / I also like Terracotta, but it was about time something else to do, a new line !

Jack/ That two-tone brown looks repulsive (like some of the ugliest chinaware produced in the 1970s) and it's smooth glaze, which has the worst feel of any finish used for ocarina making.

Hans / The new color brown black is very similar to terra-cotta with a little glaze inside to make it a little glossy I like the passage of the 2 colors and
it is not so easy to bring this 2 colors equally to overflow. In any case it would be much easier to make terra-cotta.

Jack / Fortunately the Galliani model is still sold with the old finish (sort of - the clay has gritty bits in it so it doesn't feel as smooth).

Hans / The F.Galliani Ocarina is in a completely different Terracotta as we had until now.
But I know the old people like Jack most like natural Ocarina, when you reach a certain age then your hands are not so sure with holding, and an unglazed
Ocarina can be kept in any case better since it will not slip so as a Glazed Ocarinas.

But I personally like the new line very much and it is not too much glaze inside as at full Glazed Ocarinas.

The problem with glaze is not that it slips, but that it sticks. You can't slide your fingers over the surface as freely - this matters more with subholes, though it also slows you down with complex ornamentation and fast pitch bending. There is far less friction with your old terracotta finish (impregnated with wax or vaseline, I think?) and that's the way I like it. You have the issue exactly backwards.

It should be possible to measure the difference objectively, though I doubt you'll get much disagreement here from people who've tried both glazed ocarinas and your old finish.

You had a unique selling point and (apart from the Galliani line) you've thrown it away.

I tried out the new ocarinas in Budrio, and liked them a lot. The finish was more matte than glossy. I didn't have any problems with fingers sticking.

I do like the natural feel of the Galliani model the best though. :)

As I have already said in the new brown black ocarinas is very little glaze inside, therefore they are also easy to hold
and there is no problem with the playing technique always enough grip.

Yes the Ocarina world is so big and yet so small ! We really do not have many customers here on Ton ! which is sometimes good as this weekend where we gave away a lot of Zelda Ocarina for free to our customers.

Just ordered Galliani ocarina. Till now I am using the ocarina of my daughter (Plaschke C-Alt), but I am eager to see if the Galliani model sounds better. If yes - I will re-record the heavy metal ocarina song I have released :)

You can be sure the Rotter Galliani will be of great quality. Hans Rotter makes some of the best ocarinas in the world and strives to do so. I am sure you will be satisfied with your purchase.

Can anybody please tell me how the Rotter AC with 12 holes is performing in comparison to the Songbird Allegro AC and the Focalink AC?
Since I live in Germany it would be the easiest way to order on ocarina by Rotter. However, I'd prefer the look of the Songbird Allegro in straw-fire...

He will ship to the US but you have to email him, if I remember correctly the form on the website won't recognize US addresses. Shipping will cost a flat 25 euros. Rotter ocarinas are amazing, I'm sure you will be very happy.

Hi Ocarina friends, yes, we also ship to the USA and some also make their order through our shop the approx. 20 - 22 euro charged as long as the package is not too heavy. So you have to add about 20 euros to the price of the Ocarina for the postage fee, but you get a good Ocarina with whom you have much pleasure. And you have a great selection of Ocarinas which almost no other supplier have.
Also for people who do not understand English they can request a catalog in English with a detailed description of the ocarinas and sheet music.

Greetings Hans

Hans Rotter has his shop closed for now. I don't know when or if he will be back at some point, I definitely hope so!
Meanwhile most of his ocarinas can be purchased through Thomann.
I thought I let everybody know, in case someone is interested in a Rotter ocarina and doesn't know where to get one now.
Here's the link:

https://www.thomann.de/de/search.html?filter=true&manufacturer%5B0%5D=Thomann&oa=prd&sw=ocarina
