Hey guys, my brother is a member (former intern) of a "wiki-farm" called Wikia (wikis are websites that anyone can change, for better or worse) A lot of you have heard of Wikipedia, I'm sure; this is just like that, but rather than having all articles on one site, the topics are split into different subdomains, such as http://starwars.wikia.com and http://yugioh.wikia.com There's an abandoned one, http://ocarina.wikia.com It only has one article, other than the main page, and could use some work...anybody want to help me? |

I saw that, and thought Wikia would be a better choice than forums, as it's less cluttered, and easier to search through (via Special:Allpages) Wikia also has an extensive tech team, constantly rolling out new features, and the community is awesome, always ready to help |

I enjoy the idea of having an Ocarina Wiki (I've worked on it in the past, and I have plenty of experience with Wiki's in general) but you cannot fully describe an ocarina without bringing a bit of subjective information to the front. Wiki's are meant for facts, and not opinions. |

Yes, wikis are generally for facts, but not always When my brother worked for Wikia, he had to find ways to get new people working on the wikis he was assigned to, and made several articles that had areas for opinions, which turned out to be quite successful |

True, very true. But once the Wiki takes flight, there are going to be many conflicts regarding ocarina quality. The conflicts regarding STL's selection are going to be magnified by the fact that a Wiki is not a place for discussion, but a source of information. This is my projection of events, though. Its too subjective really. I would NEVER consider a pendant as a recommendation as they are more difficult to learn and to use than 12-holes. Not only that but makers also bring in a lot of advantages and disadvantages. |

I have to agree with Elven. Wiki's are founded (for the most part) on an objective basis. I am going to email a few makers for a little history information to add to their respective pages, though. |

I edited the page on the acute bend. Opinionated matter is going to be hard to put on a page about a specific kind of ocarina, because not everyone will view them the same. Though we can try to generalize everything in a good manner that avoids opinion and gives fact. If possible |

Update: Wikia has just launched Wiki Blogs, a new feature which allows a Wiki to become very forum-like. Blogs can be posted by users to act like threads in a message board, and a new Masthead feature has been launched which allows users to upload their own avatars. Wikia is no longer primarily an encyclopedia!
