It's slowly occurred to me that it might be beneficial for us to have a list of people versed in different languages, so if someone wants to communicate with a maker or get more information about something, they can easily find someone to translate for them. So toss your name (associated language and fluency) into the hat if you're willing to field translation requests from other members! I'm hoping to eventually sticky this when we get a large enough spread of languages. *Note: this is not an official TON service, nor are the translated products affiliated with TON in any way. If you choose to contact one of these listed members, you understand that their efforts are for personal guidance only. They are not to be used as a professional consult. These services are volunteered out of members' spare time, and thus members are not obligated to respond to all requests. By contacting these members, you are acknowledging the risks of your own actions and will not hold the staff of TON, TON, and the member in question responsible for any damage or loss unless the member has not performed in a reasonable manner. Sorry for that bit of legalese, I didn't want someone to get sued because they translated a purchase order or something like that. Members are listed in order of how active shadow has perceived them to be. List of native speakers: Chinese (Mandarin) - Shadowyi Croatian - kcindric Dutch - Pandaman, SpencervdM, Sapje321 Finnish - Teidon French - Andy, Hagarendrawer German - Andy Greek - kypsyd1986 Portugese - Veld Slovak - Adam Spanish - Angelodeath, hylandude123456789 Urdu - Sapje321 List of fluent speakers: French - atkeane, Ocarikun18 Japanese (Kanji) - Kuwabara Russian - atkeane Edited by shadowyi, Feb 2 2010, 10:35 PM.

You never know, maybe TON is what inspires some people in Latin America to make ocarinas. Alright, people who are learning a language need not apply.

As a linguist, I will not claim native proficiency, but I have a certain level of proficiency in Russian and French. I'm also studying Japanese and Irish Gaelic. However my only true native language is English. (Though native speakers have mistaken me as a speaker of both Russian and French.) |

I might be of help in a very unlikely situation in which one would need translating something ocarina-related from Croatian to English. But, nevertheless, I would be happy to help.

I'm a native Dutch speaker, and I'm very used to doing English<->Dutch translations. Though I only know of one Dutch ocarina company, and they resell from their UK friends, so you could go to the UK site just as well... And I checked prices, and it seems that even importing from UK is cheaper than buying from the Dutch sister company, even here in Holland... I can also make okay translations from Japanese to English, but I still consider myself beginner... English to Japanese could work, but I would rather ask my friends at the university that are majoring Japanese. I'm planning on doing Japanese at university too in a few months, if I manage to graduate high school on time. So in a few years I will be reasonably leveled at Japanese too.

I'm happy that so many have tossed their name into the hat! It may not strictly be ocarina related, they could be sheet music (like my collaboration with teidon), or other materials. |

I suggest you switch user's and language's position, and put the languages in alphabetical order. That way it's easier to find the languages you're looking for. example: Spoiler: click to toggle In the example I put Mandarin and Cantonese under Chinese because (I believe) the written language is the same, and because people will more often search under "Chinese" than e.g. "Mandarin"... but feel free to revert. |

Sherbet - we've had a few instances of people wondering what was written on a website, book, or looking for sheet music. Other languages came in handy then. Spencer - great suggestion, I'm definitely yoinking that off your post. I *had* been thinking the current format looked too messy. |

You can add me as a fluent speaker in Serbian (I can read Cyrillic) since this language is almost identical to Croatian, the major difference being the frequent use of Cyrillic alphabet in Serbian. I can also translate from Slovenian (I understand it all, but cannot speak and write it). |
