Hi everybody I'm Riley, well that one's obvious <--- I recently started to enjoy the ocarina and wanted to see how many other people are interested as well and also see if I can get some nice songs to play on it, I'm going to try and order a new one soon, because I've heard 12 hole ocarinas are better thamn a simple 4 hole which I have... well great place, good to know there are all this many people enjoying the ocarina! |

Noooo! You are no longer perfect in my eyes! Yeah, single issues can be pretty expensive. I'm always rereading my comics, so I get my money's worth out of them, but if you're going to read it once and have done with it... It's a bit of a waste of money! |

Pianist, Saxophonist, and Ocarinist-to-be!
|
Greetings! I'm Will, I'm 15. I live in southern Brazil. I wanna buy an ocarina soon but I'm currently learning saxophone... so yeah, I'll have to get a plastic one because I just spent 1500 dollars on a Yamaha sax. But I like the ocarina sound really much. I find it really mystical, you know? It's hard to explain... I joined this forum to get help choosing my first Oc and, after I learn more, maybe help others and. So, that's it. |

Hello everyone! My name is Heather. I just got my first Ocarina about a week ago and enjoy it very much! I think the ocarina is one of the most unique sounding wind instrument there is and I am proud to finally own one after listening to them for years. I joined this forum because, since I'm a beginner, I thought i could pick up some playing tips from more experienced players. I also play the violin a bit as well.

Hihi... just introducing myself so my first post isn't just a ton of questions ![]() I'm spoony (yes people call me that off line as well). I'm one of probably a billion people who never heard the term 'ocarina' until Zelda: OoT came out. In fact, I thought it was some kind of made-up instrument ;P I was of course obsessed with the game (Zelda for the NES was my very first video game -- I was 4 or 5 at the time so I've basically grown up on the games) and could make a sort-of ocarina using just my hands... so I figured out a couple of the tunes from the game using that... then I discovered the ocarina was an actual instrument, and made it my goal to get one. Well, I finally did - a teeny little ceramic pendant type from a Renaissance Faire... it was the only one I could afford at the time. The song book it came with sucked (I'm pretty sure it was actually meant for a totally different type of ocarina) and everything came out sounding like a shriek, so I quickly gave up and mostly forgot about it. Fast-forward about 10 years... well, exactly 10 years really, to last week. I was at that same Ren Faire, and my friend had mentioned maybe getting an ocarina. The booth we found only had the teeny pendant things, which I warned her off of, though we listened to someone playing a larger 'sweet potato' type. That tickled my fancy again, and I went home and dug up my ocarina - which had miraculously survived 5 moves and a baby/toddler. The song book had long since disappeared, so I started a bit of searching... and found this place! It's been *really* helpful so far, and I've already figured out how to play a ton of songs. My l'il ocarina still kind of sounds like it's screaming though, and I'm driving my hubby and kiddo nuts -- earlier the dog started 'singing' with me >.> Anywho, I've already got my eyes set on a lower-pitched sweet-potato plastic Zin or Noble. I've spent the last several days listening to hundreds (or well, at least tens) of different ocarinas, and those ones seem like they'll be the best bang for my buck to learn on, and I might even toss in a second one for my friend, since they're so inexpensive. My goal is to eventually learn to play a double ocarina. Well, now you have my entire life story! Off to ask the questions I spoke of earlier! |

Hello! I love the ocarina, I have two (A Songbird soprano pendant and a polycarbonate in G from Mountain Ocarina) and am waiting for my first double in the mail. I'm really excited for it to come I actually didn't hear about ocarinas from Zelda, it was the opposite. I've only played one Zelda game. Um... that's about it. lol |

Hi everyone, I'm Ellen from Holland, 22, and I'm a student. I've been on a quest to find a nice ocarina ever since I realized the instrument actually existed (yes, nintendo junkie) and I'm hoping to get my first double in the very near future. This site is amazing, and I should've registered way sooner but at least I'm finally a member now, right See you on the forum, Hugs, Ellen/Pumpkin (in case anyone wonders: I love pumpkin soup, hence the name) |

Hi guys, Im Jason. My interest in the ocarina started back when I was in love with tloz oot and I got a nitendo power with the add from songbird ocarina for their original replica that only had 4 holes on top and 1 below. I loved that thing, i played it all the time. then i bought a replica from clayz which wasnt very good, in my opinion, but i then bought their triforce pendent that i loved. about 2 months ago i got in a car reck and all of my ocs were obliterated. and now i have found that songbird ocarina is now making a newer 12 hole replica which look more like the games. it just came in the mail today and i didn't get a song book with it so i have been looking for tabs for a few hours now and this is the only place that i have found tabs for the 12 hole. so thats my story on how i ended up in this little forum. If you have any recomendations for me please let me know, I am still really new at the 12 hole, and i am not very music literate. also if you have some good taps that will work with my oc please send them my way i could use all the music i can get. Thanx and nice to meet you guys, look forward to talking to you soon! -Jason |

Hey guys, call me Dia. I just started ocarina playing recently. I only have the 5-hole sweet potato ocarina you can get from Songbird Ocarinas. However, I'm really looking to get into ocarina playing and I really want to have another one, I'm thinking 12-hole, even though I'm only a beginner. I don't play very well but I'm trying. Any tips would be appreciated. After all, I joined to learn! Thanks everyone~! Dia |

Nice to meet you all. As I have said in a previous post, I'm Kadatchi (also known as Pebblemuncher, Del or Linus. Whichever YOU prefer.) I wish you all a good time here on TON. Oh, and also, as Sensei said in a post, get the 12 hole OOT replica from Songbird. It's awesome. Though, it's the only oc I've played so far. I'm learning slow but steady, and I hope you all will too. Try learning to read sheets, or learn to teb them into Ocarina Tabs. It'll help you understand it better. Hope you all have a good time, and I wish you luck with learning and playing. I'll try to help in whatever way I can. Just stay in touch. |

Hiya everyone, I go by the name Noobergoober (a name that's stuck with me after playing ffxi for years). I recently bought a 6-hole pendant from songbird ocarinas which came in the mail 3 days ago during my spring break (woohoo!). I had played around with a peruvian and a 10-hole sweet potato ocarina 8 years ago but hadn't really gotten into them back then because the sound was terrible (as is typical of peruvians) and the instructions to play was in chinese (which i couldn't really read). Fast forward to present-time: I was wasting time on youtube when I came across videos and songs by docjazz4. Since that night, I spent weeks researching about ocarinas, how to play, which to pick, etc. Now, I'm completely smitten with my beautiful pendant ocarina and have spent a lot of time just learning how to play it. I got bored with the simple songs included with my purchase from songbird as well as the supermario tabs i got from one of docjazz's videos so I ended up here in my quest for more tabs to practice with. =) |

Hey Guys, I'm Mike. Everybody usaually calls me Will. I actually hadn't heard of the Ocarina of time or even the Ocarina until about a month ago. Since then I've gotten a pretty good grip on a 5 hole songbird zelda one and just got my new STL Tenor C 12 hole. I've taught myself the fingerings for it today and am really digging this cool little thing. I'm a bass player by trade, but I also play the ukulele, Violin, Piano, Guitar, and try to bang on the drums some times. I'm absolutey loving it so far and must admit that I'm pretty impressed with the sense of community that oc players seem to all share. I definitely look forward to talking with you all. |

Hi everyone. My name is Daniel, but I'm better known as D.K. I am what I like to consider a hardcore gamer (my definition may be different; I consider hardcore gamers to be people who have played video games since they could hold a controller, or at least have played actively since they were young, and didn't just start playing games because their friends were all like "HALOZ!!! T3H ROXORS!!! J00 GOTA PLAY HALO WID US, N00B!"). Zelda is of course one of my favorite series. My first Zelda game that I beat was A Link to the Past at age 9, which ironically enough featured an ocarina (although they labeled it in the SNES version as a "flute", this was later revised to "ocarina" in the GBA release). I became more enthralled with the ocarina thanks to Ocarina of Time of course. It was such a beautiful instrument with clear and resonant sounds that really fit perfectly with the elven feel of Hyrule. When I saw the ocarina being played in two of my favorite anime series (Tapion's Theme and Lugia's Theme), I couldn't bear it any longer. I was a sucker for the ocarina. When I was 14, I looked into getting a Songbird Fairy Ocarina, but we weren't exactly the richest family on the block, so I couldn't get one. When I was 17, I had a (low-income) job at Burger King, which was hardly enough to pay my car insurance and note every month. Extra money was a rarity. Since I was so tight on the budget, I found a cheap ocarina for $7 on eBay and decided to get one. Well, unknown to me was the brand of this ocarina. It was a plastic "FirstNote" ocarina. Clearly made for young children. This was nowhere to be found in the item description, but you get what you pay for I suppose. Well, it sounds like crap... I've seen Kissing play one on his plastic ocarina video that actually sounded worse (the one he threw across the room at the end), but this is pretty bad. So, here I am, 21 years old, married, full-time job, and I'm FINALLY purchasing a quality beginner ocarina. After looking around, I decided on getting STL's 12-hole plastic "tenor" ocarina. Ocarinadiva really sold me on it. I'm expecting to get it Monday or Tuesday, they shipped within 24 hours, which was pleasant. In the meantime though, I'm gonna practice on my little crappy 8-hole FirstNote and at least see if I can't get a few songs learned on it, so I can move up and know what I'm expecting. Expect me to be a regular around here. This is the first time I've been serious about something since the day I spent my entire birthday fund buying Pokemon Red Version.
