There has been a complaint about how clearly Links can be viewed in the current Themes. Everyone has different systems, web browsers, and eyesight strength, so the decision should be made in the majority to find a ballance between aesthetic and perceptiblity. There are a few options readily available, and I would like member feedback to be the deciding factor. The changes are currently just showing Cream Dream, but similar changes will uniformly be done throughout the themes based on this decision. New poll ends: Oct 15th. The Underlined option was a clear loser. We are now polling for the link color. New poll options: Original Orange Blue Red |

Not sure I like the blue so much as it seems to clash with the Cream Dream :/ Why not make them more orangey-red rather than brown, or have them in a bolder type in the original colour? Just my ideas

The color scheme of Cream Dream was perfect as it was. The links could have a little more font weight in my opinion. And it's not necessary to underline every link on the front page. :3 So I go with the original, feel free to kill me. :U XD |

Personally ... I dislike the underlined in any color, but I will live with the majority rule. Whatever that will be. |

It could just be me...but now it looks a little too bright... Okay now it's blue again. Hmmm...I think dark orange, or simply a bolder type as has been suggested, would look best with the Cream Dream theme. Blue clashes with the beige/light orange a bit too much, in my opinion. The original look is the best, followed by the blue/notunderlined. Underlining is not good, because then i would klick on everz underlined word, even if it is not a link ![]() |

I like the original look for the front page, I already know what's a link and what's not so it's not necessary to make them stand out. But the blue really helps in threads. Because the format is more free it would be helpful to have that kind of differentiation. I really don't like underlining the links. it's ugly. Is there a way to keep the front page the original color and have the links in threads be blue? Then there wouldn't be as much blue all over the orange and wouldn't disrupt the theme as much. I don't think the blue works well together with Cream Dream. It might look good in Fog Hat though. But of the four example images the blue without underline is the best because it's very clear as to which of the words are links and which are not. Just take a look at this image, turn off your brains and concentrate on the content of the post. It starts with the word "Movies". Is "Ocarina Solo" a link? It does differ from the rest of text a bit. Or is "Thousands Cheer" a link? What about "Footage"? "Footage" does look different than "Ocarina Solo", but which one is link? While still keeping your brains in off position, take a look at this image and again concentrate on the content of the post, ignoring everything else. Is it any easier to figure out which words are links? And that's the point here. Just by looking at the text, it should be blatantly clear if there is links in it or not and where the links are. I don't like underlining for links because as said, someone might just underline a word or two in his post and you'd immetiately mouseover / click it. Bolding or italics doesn't work any better for the same reason. Instead the links just should be different color than rest of the text. Different color, not just different shade. And also it's only necessary to color the links in posts and signatures. The other links all around the forum are clearly enough links without any special effects. For Cream Dream, I think some bright-ish red might work well/look good. For Fog Hat, I think the "Moderator blue" might work well/look good. I don't know about Bon Ton. Just pick some random color, it's so colorless theme that any color will probably work. : P |

I experimented a bit ... and with links, it seems to be all or nothing. Sadly, bold only gives the underline effect, and many of the other basic css decoration settings do not work in zeta. |

I had a look at the code and that seems to be the case. Kind of stupid that they haven't added support for it. : / Of course it's possible to add it, but it requires changing the source code of this board. I would probably be able to do it, but as this is a hosted forum, we can't change the source code of the board. : / That kind of leaves 2 options: Either find a color that looks good everywhere around the board, or let it be like it is (but underlining links in Fog Hat and Bon Ton). Are there even such problems with Fog Hat and Bon Ton? Because I think those look alright as they are, especially since "Fog Hat" uses serif fonts which work quite well with underlined links. Since "Bon Ton" is simplicity in pure culture, the underlined links don't look annoying and/or misplaced. |

I personally wouldn't care about it as long as it is easily distinguishable for me. I didn't really feel the underlines looked so bad with Fog Hat, though, and to me bold just seems a bit out of place for a link. Also, I think it may stand to reason to say that underline may be the most intuitive, seeing as the majority of links I see on the internet are at least underlined on mouseover. Right, it's just the point I'm trying to make is that underlining seems to be the standard, and thus most intuitive. |

The links as they are now are very difficult to read. I actually find myself missing user posted links. The blue sort of looked out of place. I personally would either go with the original, or the original with the underline. |

I figured (I think) a way how to change only the color of links that are in posts (links in other places shouldn't be affected). Is it possible to edit the css file of the themes directly? Like, edit the file on your computer and then upload it to the board? If it is possible, then the below code lines should do the trick: And to change the colors of links in sigs, copy the above lines and change c_post to c_sig (I think it would be good idea if the link colors were same in posts and sigs). And I think that the orange is quite good color for the links in Cream Dream. Though, maybe it could be a bit darker? |
