Yeah, I got this in... I don't know... I was in maybe fifth grade at the time and was born in 1990, so... what year does that work out to? Eh, well it's several years old. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f340/Malachids/DSCN0481.jpg As you can see, back then it was a sort of mauve purple rather than blue. The Triforce insignia was a simple gold triangle painted on. And the layering in the gold paint makes it look hand-painted on rather than crisp and stenciled in like the current models have. There are noticeable blemishes of darker purple spots near the mouthpiece that are just imperfections in the coloring. And I dropped mine. Twice. Each time I glued it back together. The second time I lost a small piece on the end and refilled the hole with candlewax (that's color doesn't match the glaze...) But it actually still sounds great. Here's a picture of the breakage. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f340/Malachids/DSCN0483.jpg Five pieces in all and a few chips, one at the tip of the mouthpiece. But personally I think it has more character this way! Looks like an old relic or something rather than a mass-produced thing like the SO Zelda reps are now. A bit bigger than those, too. |

I'd hate to drop mine. Does it still sound the same even though its been glued? Like is it not airy or anything? And I get what you mean about the relic look, quite attractive ![]()

Somehow it's not airy at all. I guess I fit it together well and the wax stopped up the hole pretty well. Of course I wish I'd use purple there, but blue's okay. |

Well I didn't actually drop it. It's more like it fell out of my pocket. But "fell" implies that it's not my fault and it is. But I was a dumb clumsy kid, so that's what happened. But ist shouldn't break again. And if it does I'll just put it back together. But I'd be really devestated if I couldn't. |

remember my first ocarina. Now she was a real beauty. If I remember right I got it in Aruba, and it was a pendant. One of my friends purposely dropped it and it broke in maybe 5 different pieces. I glued it back together and it still sounded the same, but then again, after awhile I accidentaly dropped it and it just shattered. Never able to play again. Just be sure to be uber careful with it, :D. I was so devastated I couldn't play it again, but then again, I have found STLocarinas.
