Welcome to the Ton Video Challenge! Posted Image

This is the new combination of the SM and PT Challenges of yore.

Want to prove your ocarina skills? Study the Sheet Music or Picture Tabs for the current (or past!) challenge song and record a video to prove that you have mastered it. Then post that video as a reply to the challenge video listed below. Ocarinas recommended. Feel free to make the song your own. In some cases, backtracks will be provided. It is not required that you use them. Play as little or as much of the song as you like. Have fun! Remember that these challenges never expire, so post a reply to any that you wish at any time.

New challenge in: With 10 Entries :playoc:

Current Challenge: Ingo's Theme

I've been playing ocarina for a few months (about a half a year), but this seems really hard, so I think I'll try it when i'm more experienced

Excellent! Don't forget to make your video a Video Response so that people viewing the challenge video will also see yours.

For those people who don't know how to do that, you go to the TV Challenge video and click Post a Video Response. You can then select which of your already uploaded videos you want to use as a response. Each video you make can only be in response to one other video at a time, but you can change or cancel it at a later date.

I think I did that. Or at least I tried to. Do you have to approve the response before it appears as one? I did choose "Post a video response" and used the Quick Capture option. At the moment, it's not showing up as a response, but the title, "Re: Ocarina etc" indicates that it should.

Responses are automatically accepted. Looks like Youtube is just being slow

Edit: You may need to re-do it to get it to work correctly. :(
Darn Youtube and their maintenance issues!

So I have to delete it and re-record?

I can do that.

Just re-upload, not -record. Or did you do a direct upload? (It doesn't save a copy to your pc? good to know XD)

Yes, I did a direct video capture, so no file to re-upload. I'll the one that's there later.

I really need to get a decent microphone, because no matter what I do I get all kinds of distortion. With direct capture it's worse, though.

You should not have to. Try posting it in response to a different video, then post it as a response back to the challenge again. Each response change saves over the last.

I don't know how to re-post it, when there's no file (except Youtube's internal file somewhere). The only thing I can think of is to delete and try again, which isn't a big deal. The hard part is getting a minute or so of quiet so I can record!

Sorry, I don't know what you mean. If I click "Post a Video Response" on a different video, how will that attach the video I already made to your challenge? For that matter, if I click "Post a Video Response" on a different video, I still have to record a new video, or upload a new one. I'm completely confused.

When you click Choose a Video on the Post a Video Response screen,
you can select one from all your uploaded videos.

This should include the one you made for the challenge.

If it helps anyone, I found a midi of Nasicaa's requiem here at WingSee.com
I think the part we're playing kicks in around 1.08?

Thanks Moonsyne.
Pain killers have eaten my brain - No wonder they say do not operate heavy machinery on the packet. I've done more stupid things in the last week than I normally do in an entire month.

Well, I have no idea who Nausicaa is or was, but... I'm in. There are some mistakes in there, but this is the kind of tune that can drive you crazy.

Very nice Ubizmo. If you wanted to know what it was in the offtopic section there is a topic called anime movies with a website in it. It is a very good movie and when it gets to the theme the second time chills still run down my spine.

Thanks! I confess I haven't seen an anime movie, but maybe I'll have a look at some.

Luckily for me I already know this song! I learned it after watching Nausicaa for the first time(thanks Mighty!) I guess it was in June since that's when he uploaded Requiem xD Funny it felt like an eternity between when I started learning that and when I got my double!

I'll finally record this song xD

I made it by editing a Midi file I found somewhere on Google :)
If you would like to have it (Let it Snow?), send me a PM.

Anyway, here's my recording of Nausicaa's Requiem.

There's a few mistakes here and there (as always  )

I also posted the sheet music and backtrack I used here:

p.s. I think Mightyicecream really ought to post his video as a Response to the TV challenge and participate :slap:

And I actually heard them for once xD

You rarely play songs that I know well, so your mistakes aren't as obvious!

Still a very good recording though :D
