It hasn't arrived yet, but it's completed and once it's here there should be a review forthcoming. Here's a photo of it, with its granite look.

Definitely looking forward to hearing it. I've never heard of Dunster before, but judging by the looks of that oc, I'd imagine they're pretty good. EDIT: Oh, wait, yes, I have heard of Dunster. Maybe it's my monitor, but the color looks like a light plum purple. I'll be intersted in hearing how it sounds. :) |

I've been wanting to hear how a dunster sounds for a long time, and having info about it from someone knowledgeable and unbiased is always nice. |

It is. It was supposed to be speckled grey, but the glaze didn't turn out the color it said on the label. The maker wanted to redo it (or, rather, make another) in white, which had been my original first choice, but I still thought it looked good in this color. |

Hmm... that's a very interesting looking ocarina, I must say ! So its a "single" ocarina with two sound holes, but one chamber?  I'm a bit confused  It must give off a very interesting sound. Perhaps the effect of two ocarinas, but playing the same notes? It's a Siamese twin ocarina

A "hamony" oc would have to have at least 2 separate chambers, I would think.

It's two chambers tuned the same, so that one side can play harmonies with the other. Sadly, it doesn't look like I'll be getting this particular ocarina after all. She re-glazed it, trying to cover a bad spot, and the new glaze came out the correct grey color, but the purplish color shone through at places, and she's too embarrassed to let me have it. |

Awww.. that's sad to hear... but couldn't she send it anyway if it still sounds the same? And well... despite the 'mistake', your description still makes it sound like it would look good. Kinda like a two-tone special glazing Ahh so it does have two chambers. Hmm, but this makes me wonder how a single ocarina with two sound holes would be like? Would it work? Would the sound be richer/denser? |

I really hope that I can convince her to let me have it, but I will be getting another one made by her otherwise, maybe a larger one. She's planning to do the next one in the white satin glaze. UPDATE: She's already started the new one and wants to keep the unusually colored one to "keep her humble," alas. She says the color looks like the inside of the pods in Alien. I always thought something like that would result in an ear-hurting flanger effect. Then again, maybe I expect that because I'm a geek and spend too much time doing pointless experiments with Audacity. |
