At that exact moment Zene came rushing into the room.

"One of the King's Cloaks has spotted the assailant outside Haegetse," he whispered to Aivedrai as he walked past her, kneeling next to the king's bed. He whispered something so softly only the King could hear, but the King was already so far gone he could barely move, let alone speak. One of his hands slowly moved to rest on Zene balled fists on the side of his bed. A lonely tear dropped on the bed beside the King as Zene stood up.

Seeing the look of confusion on Aivedrai's face Zene elaborated.

"The King's Cloaks are men loyal to only the king. Every king has his own, and they live their lives as anyone would, until they are called upon by the King or they feel the King's need of them. They are called the King's Cloaks for the cloaks they wear when they are called to duty. They do not know each other, nor does anyone know who or how many they are. It has been rumored they are almost one twentieth of the men and women in the kingdom today. One of them has spotted a man carrying the Mark in a pub just outside Haegetse."

Another look of confusion on Aiverdrai's face prompted Zene to explain further.

"There is a web around the palace that marks anyone who enters the palace with true evil intent. The Mark can only be seen and recognized by one truely loyal to the king. I have some men out there now, but they can do no more than track him and hope they are not find out, which will not take long with a wizard of this level. By the look on Mestrar's (Uti first name ^^) face there is not much hope for the king without the wizard that cast the spell here. Or at least some part of him..." Zene added with a growl.

"Haegetse is not 40 minutes west of here, so it seems as though the wizard is waiting for something. I think we want him in dead or captured before that something comes to pass."

He looked straight into Aivedrai's eyes, showing her the pain he felt inside that didn't show on the outside.

"I need your help with this, Aivedrai. I can't do this alone. You can have any reward you want if you help us. Money, a title, land, it's yours. But please, help me one last time," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the voices of the other people in the room.

Aodh's alter ego had taken control of his body. He got up and wandered into a deep part of the forest where no man had been for centuries. There was a ruin of a statue of some sort. Vines grew up over it covering it from sight. Aodh pulled off the thick covering to reveal a single column on top of which a bird rested in an eternal sleep in a cage made of mythight, the toughest substance known to man.

He then pulled out one of the books that Aodh had brought with him. He flipped through the pages until he found one that was written in an ancient hieroglyphics. He started looking at a list of some sort. There it was, there was the bird in the cage. It looked the same in the book as it did in real life.

"Good" he thought, "now I have the first ingredient. Soon this country will be mine". he took the bird in the cage and set off to find the other ingredients listed.

*assumes Pyro's character is the evil guy*

Aivedrai's mind whirled, assimilating all the new information. Cloaks.. marks.. Whatever. That scum is outside, and he will pay. Ergh. Blood magic. Disgusting. Leeching away people's life force. Reprehensible. Gathering the cloaks of her power, she strode from the room. Zene hurriedly caught up to her and guided her to the stables, where they got on another horse.

Aivedrai kept quiet throughout the entire ride, flipping through a mental book of magical theory, attacks, counterattacks, what to expect, and what to ready. The scum would be feeling secure right now, and might have his guard down. However, his strength must not be underestimated as he probably had preyed on more people's life force. She must counter his strong powers with tactics and the years of experience she had. Muttering something and weaving the fingers of one hand in a complex pattern, she dropped several glowing web-balls of energy on the ground as they galloped through the forest. It's always nice to have a back up plan.

She lifted her head sharply as she sensed a familiar aura. "There! To the left! No, right a bit. Yes, hold straight and run! Maybe we can run him over." She had it now, to destroy the scum's hold on the king, the scum had to die. Maybe they could end this easily by trampling him into the forest floor.

The horse buckled abruptly as it rammed into an unseen barrier. Or... not.

Oh you can join if you want! Definitely, all comers welcome! It's boring if there's only three people in it.

A man walked up to the ruined statue and pulled away the mess of ivy that had covered it unvieling some sort of cage. Little did he know he was been watched. Laid on a branch in a rather lazy position was a boy, roughly 159 CM from head to toe. He had shoulder length blonde hair down the sides of his head, the fringe covered his forehead and at the back it came just past his shoulders although due to the way he was laid it all fell across his face, completely concealing his eyes. He was wearing black shorts that came about 33 CM down his leg, cutting off around five CM above the knee. His shirt if you could even call it that covered his chest and cut off a few ribs down showing his stomach which was practically level with his chest, the boy was thin to say the least. He had some muscle on his arms and legs but they were still slender although it didn't really matter either way, appearances aside the boy wasn't there by chance.
"Domibate the country eh? Rather stupid ideal, takes a lot of effort and ultimately not much gain will come out of it" the boy was speaking ot himself in a rather mocking but quiet tone as if he expected the guy who was well over ten metres away to hear his voice despite him saying it quietly. "Even so" and the boy sat up and his hair fell back revealing dark green eyes with reptile like slits instead of pupils, "A desire like that can't really be left to grow". The boy leapt from the tree and landed only a few metres from the man he was stalking, although despite his perfectly executed landing the earth beneath him sunk down a few metres like someone had dropped a tonne of steel on it. Had it not been for the fact that ivy and various other plants had covered the forest's floor the impact would have probably given away the boy's presence. The man who had now opened the cage and taken the bird that had been there from it, had begun to talk away making his way through the trees and thick overgrowth like he did it daily. "Best catch up" said the boy and for the first time he stood completely straight revealing a golden chain around his neck with a locket attached to it, swinging from side to side. The boy took a few steps forward then stopped and listened, a grin spreading across his face. "Sounds like horses... roughlt forty metres away" the boy leapt onto a branch and began to continue following his target. "Ah well, more the merrier" he said in a devilish tone whilst he moved from tree to tree in pursuit of Aodh.

Aodh was rummaging around the ruin to see if he could find any magic books before he set off. He had many but he still desired more. He felt the life force of some magician coming and decided to flee. if he was caught before he could finish his plan it would be horrible. not to mention the king still was alive if they caught him they might be able to reverse the spell. He could not have that happen. especially if it was that Aivedrai person. He hated her more than anything else. he started to run through the forest but decided that that was to slow of an escape after finding a clear spot in the forest floor he quickly started drawing a symbol that had not been used in the magic world for centuries and most would never recognize. Then after reciting a chant he dissipated like a vapor.

The boy bounded from tree to tree continuing his pursuit. "God he couldn't just stop could he?" and then as if listening the man stopped, making his way to a clearing in the forest. "Now that's a good hiding spot" the boy murmured to himself sarcastically although his look of amusment changed when the man after appaearing to draw something on the floor began to vanish. "Now that's not funny" the boy said with a slightly annoyed look and leapt into the clearing, leaving a large dip in the ground where he landed. He made his way to the place where the man had been only seconds before and discovered some sort of symbol drawn there. "That sly..." the boy suddenly turned around as the sounds of horses began to grow louder. "He steals the bird, runs like a criminal and then vanishes leaving me here... oh crap his footprints would lead here..." the boy quickly raced off, jumped at least six metres into the air to get into the next tree and began to quickly scramble across the branches as quickly as he could. "Wouldn't look very good if I got caught here after that bird vanished" a tone of enjoyment seemed to be prickiling through his other annoyed tone of voice. "Still that symbol... it couldn't possibly be... no the man knew about this place and the bird there's no reason to assume it wasn't but how could he?" the boy practically entranced in his train of thought missed a step and fell through the branches, landing in a thick bog and quickly found himself stuck. "Could this day get any worse?" he growled as he slowly began to sink.

*leaves Pandaman behind for now*

The poor horse sank to his knees when they hit the barrier, but quickly picked himself up and hurtled forward again. "Come on... come on... come on..." Aivedrai muttered as she sensed the aura getting closer and closer. Then... with a mental pop, it vanished! "WHAT!?"

They came to a clearing and Aivedrai slid off the horse in a fury. "Where the hell did he go?" Meanwhile Zene patted the horse down and made sure he hadn't broken his knees earlier and cocked his head to one side.

"I think I hear something... look for some clues, I'll go take a look at whatever's off to the side here," he said as he disappeared into the nearby trees.

Aivedrai stalked around the clearing, angry enough to start blasting something. Anything. Wait... there's.. something... here... She narrowed her eyes and squinted fiercely. Yep, there was a shimmering... something. She cautiously probed it with her mental senses. It seemed to be poised for something... Aivedrai reached out a hand and poked at it with one finger. Her expression of puzzlement turned into shock, and then horror as she realized the symbol had powered up and was taking her someplace, and there was nothing she could do to break free.

"Zene!" was the lingering cry in the air as she disappeared.

Meanwhile still in the bog...

"Maybe I should consider wearing a life jacket just in case of stuff like this. No better yet in future I won't get stuck in blasted sinking pits if who knows what" the boy who was now up to his shoulder and still slowly sinking continued to mutter to himself obviously quite annoyed at his prediciment. "You know what, screw this" he growled and at that point a long tendril like shape exploded from the bog, wrapping itself around the branch of a nearby tree. "I really hate forests and jungles, and places with stuff like this" he moaned and then burst from the bog, pulled towards the tentacle like object that connected him to the tree it had just grasped. "This day is a pain" the boy moaned and the tentacle like shape, retracted snake like, changing into the boy's right arm, a rather disturbing sight had there been any onlookers. "Now back to trying to find that-"
"Zene!"
The sound of someone shouting cut him off. "You'd think there'd be a law against screaming that loud" the boy shrugged to himself and leapt back up into the branches and started to make a route. "Ah well, maybe I can catch up to the target later on" he chuckled and made his way through the thick overgrowth, heading in the direction the voice had come from.

D'oh, semi forgot about this. :D

Aivedrai struggled wildly to get out of the rapidly expanding symbol. This is so not a good sign... Where in the world was Zene? Was there any help that was coming? She looked around in wild despair as she started to disappear..

Zene came hurtling out of the trees, moving so fast that somehow the very space he hurtled through seemed to bend around him. He almost couldn't see Aivedrai anymore, but with a final boost of speed he reached her in the nick of time. An intense ripping sound filled the clearing, as though a giant cloth was being ripped apart, and Zene and Aivedrai bowled over, head over heels, Zene hitting a tree at the edge of the clearing while Aivedrai rolled of into the shrubs next to it.

Dazed, Zene got up slowly. His head spun something awful, and he had trouble standing on his feet.

He had hit Aivedrai hard, so hard she had hardly slowed him down. The only thing that had seemed to slow down was time. The ripping had not just been a sound he heard, he had felt it, not just throughout his body, but also throughout his spirit, and that could only mean one thing.

He looked back at Aivedrai, still lying in the bushes, knocked out by the force of him knocking into her. He knew now what would have happened to her had he not been there in time. Still shaky on his feet but feeling a lot better, he moved towards the shrubs, gently picking her up out of them as he looked around for a sign of anyone, even though he sensed no presence at all.

Not far away the boy, blonde hair that fell to his shoulder, obvserved Zene from a distance. "Seems there's trouble in paradise" he chuckled and turned his head. Despite it been quite a distance his eyes were sharp enough to see the symbol from earlier, still in the earth. "Those runes can't be activated without some serious knowledge, yet whoever it was who came here before us activated it without any idea at all" the boy mumbled and pull a small blade from his pocket, "Well let's see if we can force it open in another manner" he turned his left arm, revealing a strange tatoo of what appeared to be a snake, coiled around the arm and biting some sort of sphere. The boy twirled the knife expertly in his right hand, then sliced a thin, near invisible cut into his arm. He bent down and with the knife carved a symbol of a coiled Snake into the tree. "Let's see if my guess is right" he smiled and lower his now bleeding arm above the carving, allowing blood to drip down. It took ten seconds but soon the carving was red. He pocketed the knife and licked the remaining blood from his arm. "Now time for some fun" the boy said in a sinister tone before leaping higher up into the branches, dissarpearing into the trees.
Down below him, the branch with the symbol began to shed its bark rapidly, slowly changing into thick brown scales. It began to extend, lowering itself to the floor. The tip broke open, changing into a mouth with quickly sprouted large wooden fangs and above eye sockets carved themselves out. The serpent like object now at least four meters long broke away from the tree and began to slither in Zene's direction...

OOC: Haha, I didn't realize that people had responded. :D

Aivedrai crouched near the ground, almost sick to her stomach. Whatever that symbol was.. it was almost the complete antithesis of what she stood for. Eurgh. Must not go towards it again. "Thanks.." she gasped out to Zene. "Did.. you... find.. what.. you were.. looking for?"

"I got to a bog like area, it showed recent signs of occupation, but no one was there," Zene said in slight puzzlement. "Are you sure you're alright?"

Aivedrai nodded, then her eyes widened as she saw a monster boa constricter/rattlesnake/SNAKE!!! crawl towards Zene, emerging from the woods. Too weak to even attempt to blast it with her powers, she settled for pointing frantically to it.

Zene looked at her closely. Her eyes were wide open and she looked like she was choking on someone. He didn't think he had hit her that hard, but he couldn't tell what the spell had done to her before he was able to pull her out of it. He kneeled in front of her, looking closer at her frantic movements. He noticed now that her hand was pointing at something, and as he looked into her eyes he could see a dark shadow looming behind him in their reflection. Time seemed to slow for him, and he suddenly noticed the forest around them had become completely silent. Not even a breeze stirred the leaves.

As giant snake lunged forward Zene shot upward, holding Aivedrai. He didn't look back as he jumped from branch to branch, looking for a place where he could put Aivedrai down. He spotted an old oak that looked like a likely spot, and he put her down in the small opening where the boughs of the tree split away from the trunk.

"Stay here," he whispered to her, and then leapt off through the canopy, back the way they had come.

The snake wasn't trying as hard as before to stay stealthy, racing to catch up to its prey, and it didn't take long for Zene to spot the snake coming towards him. He drew his straight short sword from where he had concealed it in the small of his back, readying himself for the encounter.
