Hi, I'm new here, as is obvious. I liked the ocarina already but then docjazz4 on youtube helped my decision to buy and learn to play one. I bought a twelve hole Alto C (or tenor, i think?). |

I've been meaning to buy myself an ocarina sometime soon, and thus I thought I'd register here to perhaps get some advice on what to begin with as well as inspiration for what songs would sound good on an ocarina.

New here as well. (Obviously.) I borrowed a friends Ocarina since he never played it, and now I'm hooked. It's a Songbird Sweet Potato Extended Range I think, 4 on top, 2 on bottom, and I'm having a great time with all the books that came with it. I haven't bought my own yet, but I'm looking to eventually, and want to get better before I decide to purchase one, and what kind I'm going to purchase. |

Hello. My name is Brandon and I am 16 years old. I got a 12 hole tenor STL ocarina a couple of months ago and could not find time to play it (believe it or not). So I have not really learned to play it. And I do not want to by the numeric notation system. I would like to know the hole that must be covered for each of the line thingies (you know, the notes or whatever). Anyway I hope I can learn a lot from this site, and I appreciate any help I can get! |

Hi everyone, I've been playing a six hole ocarina for a few years and recently bought a 12 hole and I'm having a bit of a hard time finding music to play. I'm pretty close to having some cheat sheets to convert between sheet music, tabs and fingering symbols. Hopefully i'll find some help here. I'm really excited 'cause up until now I didn't know anyone else was interrested in the ocarina. My Dad gave me his when I turned 18 and i've always loved it, but most other people I know just think it's weird. Screw them. We rock. d(-_-)b |

Hello all I'm gorguloff, student in Paris. I used to play several instruments, for instance guitar, piano, harp jaw, harmonica, voicing. I've recently discovered Ocarina. I've registered this network because i'm lost through all the differents types and tunes for ocarinas. It seems that I have a lot of mistakes contained in my tabs actually. I'm running a sweet potato ocarina in do( i think) with 4 holes on the top and two at the bottom. For the moment, i'm not quite sure about the notes, especially when it seems to half-open it. The best way for me should be having a written document with the notes and tab with all the positions do, to do 4 (?!) for this 6 holes ocarina . I manage to reach on the net 8 ou 12 holes ocarina' tabs but it's none of my business, the positions for 6 holes seem to be very different and very different from soprano flute too. If there is someone in paris fond of ocarina , email me. To finish, i'm addicted to juggling and paperfolding too. Bye |

Hello ! I bought my first actual ocarina 2 months ago at STL (alto-C purple clay, nice mellow sound, finely tuned but the high A and low A which are excruciating to get...) In fact I had one in a drawer a long time ago but was not interested in it... till my son broke it. I considered it as a challenge to buy a new one. STL gave me a book with it, and I think I am really improving my play with a daily practice. I can play 'the irish washerwoman' and a few other ones ('fairy tale', 'always with me' ...) quite correctly : their method seems excellent ! But their prices are terrific, and moreover when you know the price they get them for from Taiwan ! Maparam sounds great, and Focalink, too, when you listen to recordings ; and their prices are nice, too. Many very kind persons in this musical world of ocarina, and I felt I was welcome in it. Many thanks ! |
