Got it. Step 1 - Take six of the eight coins Step 2 - Weigh them in separate groups of three. Two separate paths open up here. If the scales balance - Weigh the two remaining coins - Choose the lighter one If the scales are unbalanced Step 1 - The lighter side has the fake coin in it. Take those Step 2 - pick two of those three coins and weigh them against one another If they are unbalanced, you know the lighter one. If they balance, the one you did not weigh is the fake one. *takes a bow* |

Hmm... Ok let's look at it this way. If it is a 2 child family there are 3 different combinations. boy/boy - girl/girl - boy/girl Obviously girl/girl is impossible seeing as we know one of them is a boy. This means that the chance of the other one being a boy is 50% |

Very close, but you forgot about one other factor! =D So it's not 50% Hint, there are 4, not 3 possibilities! |

Ok then.. There are actually 4 factors firstborn/secondborn boy/boy - girl/girl - girl/boy - boy/girl And seeing as girl/girl is impossible the chance is 2/3 |

First you fill up the 5L and pour it into the 3L so that you have 2L left in it. Then you empty the 3L and pour the 2 litres from the 5L over in the 3L Now you fill up the 5L and pour the 3L to the max making the 5L have 4 litres left in it |

Is there a mirror after two lamp posts so that when you look at it, you see four in each row, but really there are only two? So 5 x 2 = 10. so visually: x = lamp | = mirror xx| xx| xx| xx| xx| |
