Okay, I've given up waiting for someone to review a Cantare ocarina. It seems nobody here's even heard of them!

Well, HERE is the site!
This is the English page.

For a long time I've been waiting for a review of one of these to pop up, because they've definately caught my interest, but I don't have the money to go buying anything that tickles my fancy... pity really.

Clips from what I presume to be an album focused on this particular brand of ocarina can be found here.

Has ANYONE got one? I'm dying of curiousity here, and the only person I recall even mentioning them is Spencer.

Wow! Those Ocarinas are really beautiful in their simplistic appearance (just like Maparams) If we can learn more about them, I might have to buy one

Those does seem pretty good ocarinas with nice sound. The only problem is the payment. They seem to only accept telegraphic transfer which can be pretty expensive, 30USD or more (depending through how many banks the money goes, I think it's 20-30USD /per bank, but I'm not sure) just to transfer the money. And the best part of the deal is that you know the exact transfer fee after it has been finished. I wish they would use for example Paypal for payment.

Unless i misunderstood something, here is a little bit about Cantare Ocarinas.

According to the FAQ the Cantare Ocarinas are made from carefully selected clay from within Japan. It is Suyaki, or unglazed pottery, which is created at low temperatures and is only baked once. So, unlike pottery that is baked a second time (like Honyaki pottery) it has greater water absorbency. Before the ocarina reaches the customer they apply a sort of oil to the mouthpiece so that your mouth will not stick to it.

They recommend their standard 2G and their 3F. They state that the price range of the two is somewhat more economical and they are easy to play. They claim the 1C is small and will take some time to get to the point where your fingers can move smoothly. They also claim that although the 4C emits high pitches it requires more technique and can be difficult to play. So they politely and indirectly, as is the Japanese way, encourage you to buy the 2G and/or the 3F ocarinas.

Most of their other Q&A don't really answer questions as much as they promote the fact that they sell CDs and teach lessons.

These ocarinas have a nice sound to them. It's a mellow tone, and not at all airy. However there is a lot of reverb in those sound sample and it is studio produced so there could be some magic going on there.
