Mr. Shih was indeed very amiable when I emailed him, and even offered me compensation for my services! A cooperation is all but in the works, and he has in fact some other books he'll be completing over the summer. I shall be translating those as well. HEY. I should've thought to negotiate a discount for TON members. Oh silly me. *facepalm* I'll bring it up some time.
 In the meantime, before the translated version is out, I'm happy to answer questions about a sentence, page or two. Just not everything about the book, so I'm not ruining Mr. Shih's business.  [edit] Noticed a typo and just had to fix it. :P |

I'll continue that "Page 18 song" discussion from Focalink discussion thread here instead. This one:
This is quite strange. My book doesn't have that song at all. :blink: I managed to find out the song that is on page 18 of my book, it's called "Carrying You" from Laputa: Castle in the Sky. So have they changed the songs for some reason or are we even talking about the same book here? :wacko: :blink: This is the book that I have. If they have changed the songs, is there perhaps something else they have changed and which is the newest edition and so on. So very confusing. |

I have no idea. :shy: Originally Mr. Shih wanted me to translate some new material coming out in July/August, and I asked him about translating the books already published. That... was 2.5 weeks ago. It's been 3 weeks since his last email, I'm kind of worried. |

I don't see OU as being a pro-STL forum, just it's founder. A forum is made of many individuals, not just one person Except post ANYTHING non-positive about them there (like I did last week) and they jump on you. Sozzz I finally received a reply from Mr. Shih a couple days ago -- he had gone to Beijing for an ocarina convention! This one was for makers though I think, but how amazing is this? The book everyone has right now isn't translation priority #1, the upcoming books to be published in July regarding technique and such will be the first ones I translate. Look forward to it! |

Ooh, a little update about this. The book that I translated prologues for is out and published! Titled "Die Lethe", you can find it on the Focalink website. Mr. Shih has a pretty good description of it so I'll not duplicate it here. He was ever so kind to send me a copy, so when I get time I'll definitely make some vids of the songs! As for more publications, possibly coming in the future. Before this experience I had no idea how long it'd take to get a book published -- about half a year, I estimate.
