Woah there... porcelain flutes? I've never seen anything like it! :omg: I took a brief look and they look very interesting. The fingering is different from a regular flute, and the highest note seems to be flat -- must be the key the flutes are tuned in.

Hey this is where I got my first Ocarina at. I saw it at Pikes Place while in Seattle and picked one up. I got ripped off though tourist trap, but that is eventually what lead me here so its all good.

Its shaped to look like the zelda ocarina but it actually a pendant with five holes. Don't play it very much anymore. But it has a nice kind of exotic sound to it.

Sandi and Richard are legit ocarina makers and have over 30 years experience! I own quite a few of theirs and would never consider their ocarinas "rip-offs." :(

I assumed that it was bought from a third person at Pike Place Market, and that was how it was a rip compared to buying direct from Clayz. :?

Sorry did mean to offend!

I don't know I paid $50 dollars for it I haven't looked elsewhere to see if they sell that type cheaper or what, maybe its just not what I found I really wanted. Also after looking it up and doing research and finding out that they shaped a pendant to look like a tranverse just is wierd. But yes as posted before it ultimately lead me here and that was great!

Edited:
Woo Hoo I'm an inliner now!
Goodbye my pendants!

Oh it's not a problem heh. ^^ Just wanted to point that out because it sounded like you weren't happy with the quality.
The 4 hole english system isn't limited to pendants only you know. :P
But yeah, there's tons of ocarinas out there! Nothing wrong with a collection though right? ^^

Well I considered trying to sell. But I am lazy when it comes to that stuff, and yes I do kind of like the unique sound it puts out, kind of makes think of an instrument sound from like India something.

That is how I got into ocarina as well.

I was touristing in Seattle and was at Pikes Peak. I tried to barter the zelda one down $10. I ended up buying the raindrop which I prefer anyway. Looks so much better!

I guess it was still a little over priced. But maybe not. Clayz are stoneware. And I love the feel of them to earthenware.

I would love to see a 12 hole ocarina in stoneware to see how the resonating would be.

Well my clayz mini(pendant) ocarina arrived today. Hurray for fast shipping! I think it's pretty cool, it's the one with the turtle on it(anyone know why ocarinas shaped like or with turtles on them are so popular?). It's the first ocarina I've gotten with a pouch which is always handy, even if it is a pendant. I really like the look of it, the unglazed clay is nice and makes it feel more home made than most other ocs and the green and blue glaze on the turtle look really cool. I may not be able to play some songs I usually play because it only has four holes but I still really like it and it's fun to just mess around on.

I thought I'd mention that I noticed that clayz is now selling a how to play the ocarina dvd. It's for pendants of course as that's what they sell. I wonder what it's like... It's probably just for beginners and pendants are pretty easy to learn anyway but it might be interesting. It also has a umm an interview or something with Richard and Sandi which could be interesting. I wouldn't buy it just because I don't think I'd need it but it might be an interesting thing to buy if you are already buying one of their ocs.

They've made mine to look like my tribute and I love it. And here's my Youtube video of me playing it. ^^

It came on a black cord, but I went ahead and macramé-d a new one using some blue and black acrylic string. I think it looks nice, but I need to learn a better way to finish it off so I can readjust it next time. :P

It's good to see that they're improving their website and adding more products, cause that site has been the same for a loooong time. I don't think I'll be buying that mini zelda oc though because it's a little pricey and plus it's a zelda replica and I'm trying to stay away from all things zelda. Oh I could have been buying another of their ocs recently because my clayz mini oc almost broke! I had laid out my ocarina collection on my table and then I was putting them all away, I was holding the pendants by their strings (bad idea) and I felt one slip! I cringed and was expecting to hear it smash but luckily I cought it by the knot. Way too close for my liking. :dead:
