I too have a very broad range. I like just about everything from classical to rock. Just not any hip-hop/rap, country, or anything with stupid, sophomoric lyrics.

MetalI like a lot of metal, but recently i've been switching between genres. I was recently listening to Death Metal, but now I'm listening to a lot of Thrash Metal.

I also really dig progressive stuff. All of progressive genres. Dream Theater, King's X, Opeth, Pink Floyd, Rush, etc.

I've got a wide range of music tastes, but I shun thinks like metal, death metal and the like. It's a little too... funny I suppose. Never been to much for techno, and I really hate the music in nightclubs, or even parties where people get together. It's like you put the simplest of rhythms and add a large bass to it, and suddenly everyone dances and haves fun while I've got an headache. <_<

I listen to Jazz, blues, AC/DC, The Real Group, and lots and lots of Zelda music.
Boy, do I ever have Zelda music. Orchestrated, MIDI even. Got's over 2 GB.

But I've know to stray. If I find a song I like, I'll listen to it despite genre or reputation.

I like a lot of things, but I don't really have a lot of music.

I have lots of video game music though.

I pretty much like any genre, but not really rap or country. Honestly though, I haven't heard a ton of different things so I'm pretty open to anything new. I usually decide if I like something on a song by song basis rather than by band or style.

Also, a little "did you know"...

Did you know that Steve Martin has won a Grammy award? He plays banjo extremely well.

Fiance got me a bunch of new CDs for my birthday, listening to the music made me want to reply here.

Usually I don't really have a *favourite* per-say... I like all kinds of stuff, which makes "What's your favourite ___?" questions hard to answer :| lol

I'm not quite sure of what all the genre's are, so I'll skip that part and just list the artists I've got or the name of the music channels I listen to (and from there you can see the array of genres I enjoy eheh):

Artists: Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Sondre Lerche, Frou Frou/Imogen Heap, Hennie Bekker, Dan Gibson, Basement Jaxx, Delerium, Enigma, Enya, KoRn, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Marilyn Manson, Prodigy, Sugababes, Deep Forest, Genaside II, Bulgarian Women's Choir (... and various movie/game soundtracks)

Music Channels: The Spa, Chamber Music, Baroque, Ambient, Nature

I've also got the BLUEMARS radio station bookmarked, which is I think called Space Ambient?

And for stuff I don't own yet, I'll take a guess at the genres... Gregorian Chants, World Music (<-- not the modern day music, but like... the old music of the culture? you know that typical Indian music that makes you think India, or Oriental themed music, etc... yeah I dunno what it's called  lol)

Pretty much the only music I can't stand is Rap, R&B and anything that gives me a headache (usually the head banging types or songs with lots of screaming/shouting). I can tolerate country music, most of my family seems to be into it lol...

I know this topic is a little old but otherwise I'd have to make a new thread with the same thing >.<

All things rock! Unless it's annoying fake rock xD also metal, dance, electronica, video game music and classical! Especially classical soundtrack songs ^^ They're just able to convey a feeling so well, usually all the right ones to inspire me to write more!

I personally enjoy:

Rock: Mostly just Tool and A Perfect Circle, but I like it as long as it isn't that "I hate my parents" or "THIS WORLD WILL BURN!!!!" crap.

Indie: Elliott Smith/The Mountain Goats/Mogwai/Explosions in the Sky/The Pixies(?)/Ben Folds/The Mars Volta/ etc.

Oldies/swing/jazz: Django Reinhardt/Sinatra/ pretty much everyone from the Rat Pack.

Pop: Not much, but like The Kooks(UK) and Cobra Starship. Good for when you're happy.

Trance/Dance/Techno: Tiesto/Darude/Nexus/The Faint/Daft Punk

Foreign(to the US): The 69 Eyes, Him, Epica, Nightwish, Blindside, Muse, and a ton more. (I just noticed that most of them are from Finland... weird)

And anything soothing and classical, like ambient; especially with something from the flute family in it.

CHARLESTON, CHARLESTON...

Let's see here... I like romantic era classical (Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov and the like), 20th century classical (Holst FTW), jazz (specifically ragtime and some early jazz from the 20s and 30s), and I've recently started to like eastern European folk music (especially Russian).

No, I don't listen to any rock.

Erm, some classical, some instrumental, a little pop, rock-alternative-metel-some heavy, house-techno-electronic.

. . . . pretty much anything but rap or country :D

Hmm, topic revival, but I'm going to allow this, since anybody could just make a new one about this.

I love Rhapsody in Blue! I've played the piano reduction before, it fails thought because I suck at it and I only had a week to practice.

I'm recently started to listen to John Adams and his modern operas (Nixon in China, Death of Klinghoffer, Doctor Atomic).

A lot of Arvo Pärt, and I also listen to quite a bit of and Philip Glass.

I almost listen to no contemporary stuff anymore. My music listening changes over time... lol Right now I'm into a lot of minimalist stuff.
